It’s the mind that generates inspiration – when the conditions are right. Looking at how we experience inspiration, there seem to be three levels. This brings me to a story of my own.
Find challenges that inspire you – motivation asks you to take up inspiring challenges. They let you believe in yourself. Once the belief rises, a man becomes an unstoppable idea. This is the leitmotif of sales motivation.
There are simple ways to increase your motivation. For starters make sure you are getting enough sleep. It is difficult to be motivated to run a mile if you are still exhausted from work yesterday.
Meditation may not be your thing, you may call it prayer or you may just like to sit quietly in the garden. And I am not saying that beer creates get inspired, although every polyglot I know speaks a foreign language better after a drink. (Perhaps it promotes relaxation).
What drives someone to work for two days straight without a single complaint? Others can barely manage 2 hours. What makes someone keep going from one achievement to another without ever seeming like they are about to stop? Others are content with having a ‘simple’ life. What drives us? What motivates us? Motivation is as unique as our individual personalities. Just like the arrows flying towards the same target but all headed in different directions; the forces behind our individual will power vary. They lead us to different directions. Ask anyone what motivation is, and they will give you as many answers as the people you ask the question.
I’m not just talking about musicians and writers, I’m talking about artists, athletes, and any other person who needs to find some inspiration for something they want to do.
The technique I used was to form a clear vision of the end result I wanted and then leave the hen house and go and do something entirely different for a while. Meantime my unconscious mind would continue to quietly explore options in the mental background.
Motivation lets you take more responsibility. If you have motivation, you will never shy away from taking risks. Motivation drives the power of a worker to a new level altogether. The process of sales becomes fun and a great tool in his hand.
